In many school districts and states, mandated tests measure student performance and hold individual schools accountable for that performance. These “high-stakes tests” have important consequences for the test taker, namely grades and graduation. Your child’s IEP team (which includes you–the parent) makes decisions about your child’s participation in state and county assessments. Any accommodations or modifications that a child may need are discussed at the IEP meeting and included in the IEP.
